DAVID C. STARRETT
   David C. Starrett was born in Miami and was raised and educated in British Columbia, Canada. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, and he passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at the age of 84.
   He attended the University of B.C. Vancouver Canada and Sea Training School at Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was a Merchant Seaman and sailed for Canada and the United States. He served as a paratrooper in the United States Army.
   He served his Lord and Savior as minister of music at First Baptist Church of Gramercy, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and Broussard Grove Baptist Church. He was a machinist for 33 years and retired from Kaiser Aluminum at Gramercy.
   He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille Hogue Starrett; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Heather Starrett, Alan and Karen Starrett of New Zealand; grandson, David L. Starrett of New Zealand; niece, Bonnie Bain Troxclair and husband, David; nephew, Terry Hogue and wife, Oreda Gaye; five sisters; a brother; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
   He is preceded in death by his parents, Violet Lindsey and Charles W. Starrett; a stepgrandson, Sean Kattner; four sisters; and two brothers.
   There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at Ascension Baptist Church, Gonzales, Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until religious services at 10:00 a.m.
   Interment will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge.
