He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in WWII in the 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper. He also was a Life Member of the VFW Post in Boston, Mass.

Survivors include: a daughter: Donna Joyce, sons: Robert, Andrew and Paul all of Florida. Also, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home Altamonte Springs, FL

Andrew enlisted in the Army at Boston, MA on 17 December 1943.

Pfc Thompson was transferred from the 17th Airborne Division to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR on 17 August 1945.
