HOMER F. VENISHNICK

WWII VETERAN PARATROOPER

Homer F. Venishnick, age 90, of Renton passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017. Homer was born on April 16, 1926 in Renton.
He is survived by his son Jim (Becky) Venishnick and daughters Linda (Dave) Moore, and Kim Nordquist and (Steve). Grandchildren, Erik, Ana, Ashley, Andrea and Jessica, Great Grandson, Oliver.
A lifelong Renton resident who attended Renton HS before/after serving his country as a paratrooper in WWII.
After returning from the war he met his wife of 56 years Frances "Bunny" Venishnick. Homer then "tinkered" a bit with carpentry, building his house of 50 years by hand in the Talbot Hill neighborhood.
After retiring from a 30 year career at Stoneway Concrete, he split his time between Renton and his Hood Canal cabin.
His joys in life have always centered around family, friends, food and fishing (not necessarily in that order). Homer was a constant thinker who had a passion for teaching others and remained very close with his community where he coached Renton little league football, volunteered at the Renton Historical Society, The Cedar River Basin Council, and was a life-time member of the Renton Lions Club.
His infectious personality and eagerness to teach will be GREATLY missed by his family, friends, and community. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Renton Lions Club Youth Camp or the Renton Historical Museum.
