Paul W. Wagner enlisted in the Army on
March 25, 1932 at Camp Custer, MI
He
participated in the jump into Normandy on D-Day and was captured by the
Germans that same day. Paul remained a POW until 12 May 1945 when
he was liberated from Stalag 4A Hohnstein.
Once he was back into U.S. custody he was
quickly processed through and placed on board the troop ship USS Admiral
W. S. Benson. After a week or so crossing the Atlantic, the ship
arrived in new York City harbor on 12 June 1945 (see line 84).
