Delbert "Jake" Warnkin, 79, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, formerly of Washington, NJ passed away on Friday December 3, 2010 at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg.
. Born: July 20, 1931 in Lehighton, PA, Jake lived most of his life in Washington, moving to Lopatcong Township five years ago. Personal: Jake's beloved wife, Sylvia J. Kerr Warnkin, passed away January 1, 2010.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jake worked as a front end specialist and auto collision repair expert for Mike's Auto Body in Washington, NJ, where he worked for over 50 years.
Jake was a skilled horse rider and was a competitive barrel racer, winning many ribbons. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying skeet shooting and fishing. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada.
Survivors: In addition to his mother Pauline Hunsicker of Oxford, NJ; a step-daughter Debra DiFrancesco and her husband Rocco of Califon, NJ; three brothers, Richard, Thomas and Terry; four sisters Linda, Tina, Harriett and Teresa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Warnkin, step-son James E. Smith, and step-daughter Bonnie Lee.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 7, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ with Pastor Linda Bullock officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
