Claude E. "Chubb" Wilkins, 78, of N. Syracuse, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born on December 31, 1933, he was the son of Claude and Irene Chubb.
Claude proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the Army Airborne.
Surviving are his daughter, Theresa Irene Carswell of Bay St. Louis, MS. He was predeceased by his beloved sons, Michael, Steven and Thomas; sisters Donna and Geraldine; and brother Verne B. Chubb.
Calling hour will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 North Main St., North Syracuse, with services to follow. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or to VFW Post #7290.

Claude E. Chubb was raised in foster homes in
Syracuse, NY area from the approximate age of 1 1/2 years to 12 years. He then lived with his mother and stepfather in Moravia, NY. He was
later officially
adopted by his stepfather Clyde Wilkins, and Claude's surname was changed from Chubb
to Wilkins.
He enlisted in Co I, 108th Infantry of the New York Army National Guard,
under the name of Chubb. His registration card was later
cross-referenced to Wilkins.
The third battalion, was comprised of four companies located in
various cities, Company i was headquartered in Auburn, NY which
was his home pf record at the time of enlistment.
He was a member of
M Co 508 ARCT and also served in
the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, "Rakkasans"
during the Korean War.
