JAMES L. WILLIAMS
James L. “Pete” Williams, 88, of Hahira, Georgia, died Tuesday, February 21, 2005, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams was born May 12, 1916, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Simon Peter and Eva Mar Yarbrough Williams. He lived in Hahira since 1979.

Mr. Williams served in the United States Army during World War II, serving with the 82nd Airborne, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, serving in the European Theatre and he received the Purple Heart.

He was a former employee of Lowell Packing Company, Stone Oil Company and was former owner/operator of Williams Service Station for over twenty years. Mr. Williams was a member of Cecil Baptist Church.

Mr. Williams is survived by his sisters: Lois Wilder, Ocilla, Doris Gentry, Jacksonville, FL and Grace Grantham, Trenton, FL; step-children: Kenneth Deberry, Mystic, GA, Russell Deberry, San Antonio, TX, Jean Spell and Wydene Prescott, both of Watkinsville, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Barfield.
