RAF FOLKINGHAM

RAF Folkingham is now farmland with new houses built around the perimeter of the airfield. The last remaining part of the Folkingham airfield has now disappeared as farms have overtaken it .
The Memorial for Folkingham Airfield, dedicated on 9 July 1994, can be found in the village cemetery of Aslackby, just off the A15.
The stone commemorates the use of the nearby RAF Folkingham, (which is often referred to as Aslackby Airfield, as the airfield was nearer the village of Aslackby rather than Folkingham) by the RAF and USAAF during World War Two. Its four sides are engraved with the names of both British and American units while the capstone is a testament to men who flew missions from the field.
