MOVEMENT OF AIRCRAFT IN PREPARATION FOR D-DAY

Special Order #20 of the 12th Troop Carrier Wing, dated 11 Feb 1944, named the following officers and EM in Aircraft, as indicated to go from Milo, Sicily (see WW-II aerial shot), via Oran, North Africa, to the UK, for a permanent change of station. The aircraft and crews were listed in Shipment Numbers 62000-F, 62000-G, 62000-H, 62000-1, 62000-J.  This list represents only 62000-H.
     Of the 12 aircraft listed here, 7 were used to ferry members of the 508th rd Battalion on D-Day and are so noted.

One paragraph states.
"In the 314th TCG, the 62nd was the lead squadron, flying 11 aircraft, of which 10 made up the lead flight with Col. Stiles. (The Eleventh aircraft, #42-68710 was assigned to fly with the 32nd Squadron, which placed them in position to be part of the best drop in Sicily. Crew members were 1st Lt. Floyd H. Hogan, 2nd Lt. Stephen C Grigsby, S/Sgt.Jack Melrose, And Sgt. Aaron M.
