TITTER TATTER

a little bird in a hailstorm"

will come back”.

"A N£W ***** YEAR"
Good-by 1943, Hello 1944! All of us aboard the JAMES PARKER have
undoubtedly known happier New Year’s days but though we've been warned
against unwarranted optimism, this department firmly believes that this
day 'brings with it more in the wavy of hope for e better day than any
other since the advent of ’World War #2,
The war isn't over, we know that - the enemy is still doing
business. . But today we can reasonably look forward to the end of
fighting. Certainly, a lot of us will get "hurt", but when the wreckage
is cleared, one thing will stand out - the picture of a future bright
with peace and justice and freedom.
Because the year 1944 will bring the most powerful display of
military might the world has ever known. It will bring Invasion, battle,
and the destruction of the enemy’s armies. It will give us a new day -
sad, then beautiful.
