THE
RUMOR
While the molding, elaborate interpretation, and the
general spreading of that familiar commodity, the rumor, aboard e
transport in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean doesn't present much
likelihood that said loose talk will reach the ears of an eary enemy, it has nevertheless, been noted that "the boys" are working harder than ever on "much ado about
nothing".
We’re saying that never before in our army lives have rumors been more wildly spread. A shining example is the diverse
speculation on the James Parker’s destination. Everybody had the straight dope, and everybody is certain that his information is correct.
Too bad though, that somebody is in for a disappointment. It isn’t possible for the Parker or any other ship to arrive in a dozen different ports at the same time.
So Patter is letting the ’’Boys" in on something else which is pretty straight. No one
knows except the commander of the convoy's flagship exactly where we're
going - arid sometimes even he is in the dark. Take our word for it - it’s so.
This sermon then, about bcil down to one lone point. Let’s
lay off the rumors. They're not doing anybody much harm now, but they do become habit, and if loose
talk continues, it may spell disaster in the days to come.
