COMBAT FATALITIES TAKING A BREAK IN BEMMEL
2 October 1944
at Regimental HQ, after the shelling. The bodies of Martin Jones, Richard Thomas, George Hartman, and Clyde Fisher lie covered by a tarp.
It is believed that the two troopers standing and looking down are John Danko and Harry Hudec.
It is also thought that the body with his hands visible is Richard Thomas.

Comfy Home Site
SSgt George Clements, III smiles outside his tent-protected foxhole near Bemmel.  The ground in front is muddy but the canvas cover kept rain out of the hole. This is one home site where running water is not welcome!
Note a similar site to the rear of of this one.

Bemmel Church
though littered with fallen debris somehow has most pews intact and the huge stained glass windows over he altar seem largely unbroken.
