CAMP CROMORE (4 of 6)

But a recent e-mail from Glyn Shipstone of Nottingham said: "I have been looking at the photo of John Posadas and Jim Murphy. It says somewhere in Nottingham in the description.   Well something did not sit right with me as I could not place the style of buildings in Nottingham's history.   So I had a look closer and did some research.   I think the photo was taken in Port Stuart, Ireland.   It has took me a few weeks of work to determine this and find the evidence for you.   The photo was taken on Main Street in Port Stewart. I can not find the exact location of the place it was taken because some of the buildings been demolished and replaced, or had their exteriors altered.  But I have found an old postcard picture which confirms my assumption.   If you take a close look and compare the photo and postcard you can clearly see the same amount of windows, chimneys, doors, and balconies.  Also there is a lamp post that corresponds with the proposed location.   I know this is only a minor thing to you but it was bugging me and I just had to find the location.

A few days later a second email reported: "I have found the location of the photo in Port Stewart.   Nothing much remains of the buildings apart from one which I have circled.  This building can just be seen on the right of the 1944 photo and also can be seen in the postcard print."
