Scott D. Kitchen, son of Charles and Pat Kitchen of Fort Myers, has been promoted to specialist.  He is an Army infantryman with the 508th Infantry Regiment and is a 1987 graduate of Cypress Lake Hugh School, Fort Myers.

   Army Sp. 5 Edgar J. Rhodes Jr., whose wife, Joyce, lives in Evansville, Ind., qualified as expert in firing the high - powered M-14 rifle at Fort Amador, Canal Zone. The expert rating is the highest mark a soldier can achieve in his rifle qualification qualification test.
