A CHANCE ENCOUNTER

Glyn Shipstone and Graham Lawson
stopped at the Kelso Horne memorial in June 2016. Glyn reported, "We met a person at Kelso Horne's memorial. He was plowing his field and came over to us. He told us that he looks after the memorial."


He was 6 years old at the time Kelso was there and Kelso gave this gentleman some gum

The land where Kelso attacked the Hill is part of his family farm. He pointed out the spot in the hedgerow, at right,  where the famous photo was taken.

posed with the farmer in front of the memorial (notice the helmet atop the stone between the tow men.
Glyn and Graham
posed together.  The farmer was not accustomed to using a camera and inadvertently cut them off at the forehead
