20. son of Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Bam, West De Pere, route 1, was
slightly wounded in action July 3 in France, it was learned Monday by
his parents. He had been a paratrooper, it was known.
The young man is the second son of the Bains to be wounded.
as Pvt. Hamilton Bain, 21, was wounded in the New Guinea fighting some
lime ago. Hamilton, however, recovered in a hospital, and had gone hack
into action, according to a letter received by his parents.

Another War department telegram
received Monday conveyed the information that Pvt Robert J. Bain, son of
Mr. Elizabeth Bain, West De Pere. route 1. had been slightly wounded
Jan. 7 in action in Belgium. The message added that he would write from
a hospital, to which he was removed.

Pfc. Robert Bain Dies As Result of Wound
DE PERE Mrs. Elizabeth
Bain, West De Pere, route 2, was notified by the War department
Wednesday evening that her son, Pfc. Robert J. Bain, died in Belgium
Jan. 20 as the result of wounds received in action.
He had returned to duty only a few weeks before, on Jan. 9, after
recovering from wounds he had suffered in action earlier.

Bain Services To Be Held on Sunday
DE PERE The body of Pfc. Robert J.
Bain, 19, who was killed in action Jan. 30, 1945, while serving with the
82nd Airborne division in Belgium, has been returned to this country for
reburial. The casket will arrive at De Pere on the North Western [rail]road
at 8:47 Saturday morning.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Ryan Funeral home at
2:30 Sunday afternoon with military rites at the graveside in Cady
cemetery by a firing squad from the De Pere post, Veterans of Foreign
Wars. The Rev. Robert L. Rock, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran church
at Oneida will officiate,
Pfc. Bain was a member of the 508th Parachute infantry, 82nd
division. He trained at Fort Riley, lKan., Fort Benning, Ga.. and Fort
Meade, Md., before going overseas in March 1944. He was in the invasion
of France where he was wounded July 2, 1944.
He was born Feb. 17, 1925. Before entering the service he was
employed at the U. S. Paper Mills.
jHe is survived by his parents, Mr. ;and Mrs. Hamilton Bain. West
De Pere, route 1, and by seven brothers and sisters, Mrs. William Boison.

Pfc Bain was killed in action on January 30, 1945 and was awarded the
Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart with 2 Oak lead Clusters
