PVT THOMAS B. BORZAIN
(courtesy of Heidi McColgan)

Grave markers for Pvt Thomas B. Borzain in Section S St. Edward Avenue Lot 27 1/2 of the Saint Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, New Haven county, Connecticut.  Note that the marker at right shows his year of birth as 1924 whereas the family stone shows 1922 which is correct.

Pvt Borzain was a member of C Company, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. The 508th jumped into Normandy at approx.0130 (1:30 a.m.) on D-Day, June 6 1944.

Pvt Borzain was initially listed as Missing In Action (MIA) as of June 6, 1944. However, his status was later changed to Killed In Action (KIA) as of July 2, 1944. The date may actually reflect when his body was recovered from a field grave.

He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Purple Heart, both posthumously.
