KILLED
IN ACTION --- Pfc Murray E. Daly, 20, OF A parachute infantry unit,
was killed in action in Normandy on June 16, according to word received
here. Pfc Daly is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Daly, New
Orleans, formerly of Owensboro, who survive. The young soldier,
who had been overseas since December, 1943, was a nephew of Mrs. Robert
Elmer Duke, 349 Hill avenue.

the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France
Murray registered for the draft in Gulfport, MS on 30 June 1942 and was
inducted into the Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN on 29 October
1942.
Pvt Daly was transferred from Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN to Company D,
508th PIR on 5 November 1942.
He was appointed to Pfc on 30 June 1943 and awarded a Good Conduct medal
on 16 November 1943.
Pfc. Daly was killed in action on June 12, 1944 and was awarded
both the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. |
