John was
was in Co
H of the 541st at Fort Benning in August 1943 when he started jump
school. On Oct. 10th he was sent to Camp Mackall in North Carolina,
where
he joined the 508th.
Pvt Daum was killed in action on June 8, 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart. |
The stones placed at the memorial were for
for Tom's uncle Pvt John A. Daum (Co B) who was killed in action
on 8 Jun 1944
and for his brother Charles who served in
Viet Nam as a Sergeant in the 1st Cavalry Division |
