In loving memory of our beloved brother and nephew, Pfc. Francis Doneau, who was killed in action two years ago today, Jan. 22, 1945:

He little thought when leaving home,
 He would return no more,
That lie in death so soon would sleep,
  Upon some foreign shore,
We do not know what pain he bore,
We did not see him die.
We only know' he passed away,
     And could not say goodbye.

Interment record and grave marker for Pfc Francis J. Doneau at Plot C, Row 15, Grave 46, Henri Chapelle American Cemetery, Belgium.

Pfc Doneau was killed in action on January 22, 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart.
