Application For Headstone Or Marker for Lemarre R. Hankinson to be erected in the Acacia Park Cemetery, Beverly Hills (Oakland county), Michigan.

Lemarre enlisted in the Army on 3 March 1943 and volunteered for parachutist duty.

Following the completion of jump school Pvt Hankinson was shipped to the ETO.  On 1 January 1945 , SSgt Hankinson was transferred from the 82nd Airborne Division to Service Company, 508th PIR.  Four days later he was transferred to Company I and put into the line.

On 8 January 1945 SSgt Hankinson was seriously wounded in action and died of his wounds the following day.

His remains were initially interred in Henri Chapelle #1 in Plot VV, Row 3, Grave 54.  The remains were disinterred and transported to Michigan in 1947.
