SGT JAMES M. NOLEN
 

James M. Nolen, 25, of Alvin, Texas; sergeant, Army. Nolen was one of two paratroopers killed Nov. 22 when a roadside bomb exploded near their armored Humvee in southwest Afghanistan’s Zabolprovince, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Sgt James Michael Nolen was a member of  the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Benning, Georgia.

He died of wounds sustained in Zabol Province, Afghanistan when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. 

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
