PFC WILLIAM A. OSSENBERG, JR.

William enlisted in the Army at Evansville, IN on 16 November 1943.  Foillowing the completion of basic training and jump school he was shipped to England.

On 27 October 1944 he was transferred from Hq 82nd Airborne Division, Leicester England to Service Company, 508th PIR.

Pvt Ossenberg was then transferred on 22 November 1944 to the 508th Medical Detachment.  He was appointed the the grade of Pfc on 18 December 1944.

Pfc Ossenberg was killed in Reims, France during a demonstration jump when a C-47 lost power due to a thrown propeller sending the aircraft plunging through a group of descending parachutists.
