Inducted Into Army
Providence, R. I. Feb 3 ---(Special ) --- V. Lloyd
Sheehan of Providence, Brown University football letterman for the past
two seasons, is the first member of the 1941 Bruin eleven to be called
into the nation's armed forces, He reported at Fort Devens on
Monday, Feb. 2.
Sheehan, a member of the senior class, prepared for college at
[high school]. He played football for four years at Brown earning
his letter as a back in 1940 and as a guard last season. He is the brother of William
Sheehan. '41 star baseball player for three years, as well as football
halfback for two years and hockey player.

Vincent, or Lloyd as he
preferred to be called, enlisted at Ft Devens, MA on 2 February 1942.
His enlistment record shows that he had completed three years of college
and that is probably why he was quickly shunted intro an OCS class.
Two years later he appears
on the Company D Morning Report as a 2nd Lt. assigned as S-2 for the 2nd
Battalion.
2nd Lt. Sheehan was killed
in action in France on 2 July 1944 |
