1ST SGT MARCEL A. WENZEL
 

LONG WAIT --- Mrs. Madeline Wenzel of San Francisco, whose son, Marcel, a member of the 508th Parachute Inf Regt, was killed when his outfit jumped into Normandy in the dark hours before D-Day in 1944, visited his grave for the first time last week.
   Mrs. Wenzel has been a seamstress since her husband's death and saved for eight years to make the trip to the St. Laurent cemetery in Normandy.   ---Army

   Grave marker for 1st Sgt Marcel A. Wenzel at Plot C Row 15 Grave 16 in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
   Sgt Wenzel was killed in action on June 9, 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart.
