PFC JAMES E. WICKLINE

Pfc Wicklines grave was adopted by the Dutchman Maarten Vossen, who visited Morgantown, WV - James' home town - in order to gather information about him.

Maarten was present in 2014 during the naming of a bridge in Morgantown,in James' honor and Maarten was given a plaque with the request to place it near the location where James died.

Maarten had a Dutch plague made and in January 2017 both plaques were planted near the field on De Klös at Groesbeek.

A pair of memorial plaques rest on a pedestal overlooking Drop Zone T where James died after having a parachute malfunction during the jump. 

The uppermost (black background) is in English and the second is in Dutch. (see translation below)

James groeide op als enig kind van Melvin en Myra Wickline
in Morgantown, West Virginia

Hij sneuvelde hier nabij de Klös en werd in 1946 herbegraven
op de Amerikaanse Begraafplaats in Margraten (L)

Hij liet vrienden en familie achter,
maar blijft een tijdlozevriend van onze vrijheid

James grew up as an only child of Melvin and Myra Wickline
Morgantown, West Virginia

He was killed here near De
Klös street and was reburied in 1946
at the American Cemetery in Margraten (Limburg Province)

He left friends and family behind,
but remains a timeless friend
of our freedom
