FIRST HUMAN TO BE SHOT OUT
OF SPEEDING PLANE --- First Sergt. Lawrence Lambert of Berkeley, WV,
is pictured at the Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, as he entered the P-61
plane which carried him aloft to become the first human in the U.S. to be
shot out of a speeding aircraft with the aid of the newly developed
Material Air Command's pilot ejection seat. Lambert was shot out of
the seat at an altitude of 6,000 feet (International news SOUNDphoto)
