held a letter dated
12 July 1943 implying that Millwood was amongst the first parachutists.
   The 1st PIR may have been comprised of the Test Platoon forming the nucleus of the 501st PIR activated at Camp Toccoa, Georgia, on 15 November 1942, approximately 1 week prior to Van's first enlistment.

Cpl Van J. Millwood
wears a 9th Armored Division patch.  Rank and division both imply this to be post-war since he re-enlisted in 1945 as a Pfc.
