Proclamation

 
WHEREAS: The glory and the promise of our great nation has been faithfully nurtured and strengthened by the outstanding acts of valor and courage which our committed veterans have honorably demonstrated over the years in protecting this country's cherished freedoms - and one has to look no farther than to the blue skies above, to the legacy of the distinguished Airborne forces of the United States, to realize tht fruits of this valuable truths and
 
WHEREAS: Hera Id«d for thtlr Many Impressive accomplishments during this past half century, the brave soldiers, who have at one time worn tht legendary symbol of the Airborne with tremendous pride, fought and died so that their fellow citizens may prosper; and
 
WHEREAS: Airborne personnel who have maintained a commitment to excellence while In flight and on land and at sea. Including those who havt paid tht ultimate sacrifice, are deserving of Minnesota's high praise and recognition; and
 
WHEREAS: Minnesota it pleased to join with our entire highly-respected Airborne community nationwide In celebrating the grand 50th Anniversary of the Airborne, and we wish proud and dedicated members of this group of outstanding Americans continued success and prosperity as they further build upon such a storied and vibrant military heritage;
 
HOW, THEREFORE, I, Rudy Perpich, Governor of the State of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim the year of mo to be

THE YEAR OF THE AIRBORNE

in Minnesota, and do commend this observance to all Minnesota citizens.
