HQ 3rd BN DIARY (10 of 16)

a former German HQ because of many papers maps ect. [sic] found in-side (the above information was sent to Regt. at once)
23:00 HR - G Co patroll [sic] contacted 2nd Bns 508 + 50-8 to our front.  Rec. no fire and report area clear.
6 1230 HR G Co contact patroll returned, situation and disposition unchanged with 2nd BNs 508 + 507.  Sniper fire at 194-852 and 196855
2030 HR Two prisoners walked up road and surrendered to the M-10 Rd. block  2100 22 more did the same thing.
7 1200 HR - H Co captured one prisoner and located a type of bomb (use unknown) 90th ad 79th double envelopment working fine but is leaving small pockets of Germans in vicinity of Hill 96.  These groups fight and die hard.  Seem to be units of 353 Div. Only 25% (satelute"?)
13:36  HR.  G Co patroll contacted 2nd Bn 507 at 199852.  3rd Bn 505 at 196866.  Reports 3rrd Bn 505 has relieved 2nd Bn 508.  H Co takes over the contact patrolls as of 1345 HR.  Visited by Col Shanley (now Reg. Ex.) He gave instructions on move to corps reserve tomorrow.  1900 HR.  Visited Col Raff*, His Reg. CP is now
  * On 14 June General Ridgeway had ordered Colonel Edson Raff to assume command of the 507th PIR after Colonel Millett was captured
