LT HENRY LEFEBVRE'S STICK FOR D-DAY

Historic Note     The aircraft ferrying Lt. Lefebvre's stick on D-Day (ref photo below) was dubbed "Satan's Revenge" (tail number 42-100863) and was flown by the 99th Squadron of the 441st Troop Carrier Group.
The same aircraft was used on September 17, 1944 for the stick led by Lt. John Foley.  On that sortie, the aircraft was hit by a heavy concentration of anti-aircraft fire near the drop zone at Groesbeek and crashed in flames near Linden, NW of Cuijk killing its crew of four and 508th paratrooper Ralph P. Bellesfield.  The crew members included pilot 1st Lt. James O. Martin; co-pilot 1st Lt. Walter A. Voight of Red Rock, Texas; crew chief Staff Sgt. Vernon C. Kassekert of St. Paul, Minn; and radio operator Staff Sgt. Anthony P. Biondo of Akron, Ohio
