Ist Lt Richardson fr Exec  Co G to9 Plat ldr Co H.
Sgt Sidley, James N (LMG) treated for light shrapnel wound and returned to DUTY.  Sgt Louis Spera (Co I) evacuated a/c combat exhaustion.  Front lines quiet during afternoon and evening.  Light rains in morning, sunny afternoon, rany again at night.  Rec'd notice that 325 patrol may return thru our lines by dawn.  2230 - Co G started replacing Co H in front lines, 1 plat at a time.

 27 0235 - change completed. 0500 - all troops gotten awake.  Rain stopped, sky appears clear. 
0740 - arty liaison plane seen hit (wing lost, plane crashed) vicinity 81mm mortar platoon.  Investigation reveals that hit was by one of our 81s at 0730 when plane cruised over during a firing mission.  Plane crashed 252895 Both officers killed by crash. 
1730 hrs 4 enemy crawled into our lines near Co G road block and surrendered.  Questioned buy Bn S-2.  Found to be fr 5th Co, 2nd Bn, 875th Regt, 91st Div.  Co composed of 1 Slav to 2 Germans.  PWs were 3 Czechs and 1 Yugoslavian.  Co. strength stated to be 100-140, 12 LMG, 2 mortars.  Originally moved fr Lorient via St Lo into Cherbourg Peninsula.  In immediate sector 8 days.  Morale not high.  Houses in BN sector searched this afternoon by S-2 men and Levesque, Co H as interpreter.  No enemy found hiding or anything suspicious disclosed.  Sketch of buildings made + names of inhabitants secured.  Same sent to Regt  212- - heavy cal. arty shells (friendly) falling in front of our lines. Enemy OPLR to our front hit with our artillery shells containing propaganda leaflets.  Thus was in effort to induce dissident elements in enemy ranks to surrender.  Regt patrols due out tonight after darkness.
28 Quiet from midnight on - occasional rds of small arms or arty heard.  0915 en arty fire coming W of Co G and passing ovcer Bn area into Regt area.  0930 - Regt rpts they will shell 241884 as suspected gun position of en shelling.  1028 hrs - 6 en shells landed in Bn area - vicinity of motor pool and beyond.  1520 hrs - Co G reports 1 mortar shell fell in CP.
