Picks Army Man for West Point
WASHINGTON Sen. La Follette (Prog-Wis) announced today that Ronald
M. Androen, Kenosha, now serving in the army at Fort Sheridan, 111., had
won his nomination to the United States military academy through a civil
service test.
James T. Milam, of La Crosse, ranked first in the examination but
declined the nomination be cause he was accepting one through the army.
He is serving at Fort Harrison, Ind.
La Follette named James R. Schoen, Shorewood, first alternate, and
Frank J. Spettel, La Crosse (now in the army at Fort McPherson, Ga.),
second alternate.

James. T. Milam, son of
Lieut. Col. John H. Milam, regular Army instructor of the 182nd and
177th regiments of the Michigan National National Guard, has realized
his ambition to follow his father's career. Word was received Thursday
that young Milam has passed entrance examinations and would enter West
Point In July.
Milam was graduated as an honor student from Grosse Pointe High
School in 1939. He immediately enlisted in the Army, intending to try
for the enlisted men's appointments to the Military Military Academy.
His appointment, however, came through the efforts of Rep. Louis C.
Rabaut. Young Milam is now quartered at Wright Field, Dayton. His
appointment will bring him In line with a family tradition, for two near
relatives besides his father have been high ranking officers. His home
address is 1144 Balfour, Grosse Pointe.
