CAPT JAMES T. MILAM (2)
Betrothed to West Point Man

Major Claire A. Day and Mrs. Day announced the betrothal of Day and Cadet James Thomas Milam, West Point, New York.  No definite date has been considered for the wedding which will not take place until after the West Point graduation of Miss Day's fiancé.

[Note: this marriage did not take place,  He later married another woman, see below]

Family Man
James and his wife, Doris B. Milam, pose in Heddernheim, Germany with son John, ca. 1946

On 19 October 1946, Doris Milam and John, Jr. (lines 8 & 9) arrived in New York, NY from, Bremerhaven, Germany  aboard the USAT George Washington.

On 10 January 1950, Doris, now with three children --- John (4), James (2) and Jerome (8 months) --- set sail from San Francisco aboard the USAT O'Hara, bound for Yokohama, Japan (lines 8 through 12).

Given the ages of the two youngest sons and the fact that they are shown as having been born at Fort Benning, GA, James, Sr. was probably stationed there during the period since returning from Germany.
